Standing in Kazakhstan

A national ranking and a first in quality certification

In 2008 the National Accreditation Centre of the Republic of Kazakhstan ranked KSMU 8th among 60 leading universities in the country. In 2005 the university became the first medical university in the Republic of Kazakhstan to pass ISO 9001-2000 certification, awarded by NQA-Russia.

In 2007 the State Certification Commission recommended KSMU for advanced experience sharing across the CIS countries, a recognition of the university's teaching and research record.

Karaganda State Medical University sits in the Republic of Kazakhstan and has earned a strong reputation as one of the country's leading institutions for medical education. The university is particularly well known internationally for its M.B.B.S programme, which draws students from India and neighbouring regions, and for a long history of quality certification and academic collaboration. Its teaching hospitals and clinical facilities allow students to gain practical experience alongside classroom learning, while the faculty follow modern, experience-based approaches to medical training. For prospective applicants and families, the university is often presented as a reliable choice for studying medicine in Central Asia.

The university's standing is supported by recognition from national and international bodies, including a national accreditation ranking that placed it among the leading medical universities in Kazakhstan, along with certification against recognised quality standards. These achievements reflect sustained academic effort, investment in modern infrastructure and continuous improvement of educational programmes. The university also promotes international cooperation and maintains representation in wider academic networks, which helps students and researchers take part in shared projects, conferences and exchange opportunities across the region and beyond.

Beyond the M.B.B.S degree, the university offers programmes across several areas of health sciences, including dentistry, clinical practice, nursing and other allied health disciplines, with a range of bachelor-level options for incoming students. An admissions office guides applicants through application requirements, documentation and enrolment procedures, and a dedicated team handles enquiries from students and parents. Campus life blends rigorous academic work with a welcoming, multicultural environment, where students from different countries study together and build lasting friendships during their medical education journey.
