Who runs KSMU

Karaganda State Medical University is governed by an academic administration headed by the Rector, supported by a Vice Chancellor for Academic and Educational Efforts and further senior staff. Together they oversee the M.B.B.S programme, faculty development and the quality systems behind the university’s international reputation.

The university is the first medical university in the Republic of Kazakhstan to pass ISO 9001-2000 certification, awarded in 2005 by NQA-Russia. An external audit of the quality management system was carried out by NQA-UK and NQA-Russia between April 5–8, 2011, and in 2008 the National Accreditation Centre ranked KSMU 8th among 60 leading universities in Kazakhstan.

Rector

Dosmagambetova Raushan Sultanova

Rector of Karaganda State Medical University, R.S. Dosmagambetova defended her Ph.D. thesis in 1984 and took up the post of Principal of KSMU on August 4, 2011.

She received the Indo-Kazakh Friendship Award, presented by Deepak Singh, President of Modern Institute Of Hospital Management.

The office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic and Educational Efforts carries responsibility for the academic programme and educational delivery across the university’s medical training, including support for international cohorts of students.

International academic links

KSMU has collaborated with Elsevier on e-learning programmes involving professors from Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi. In May 2013 the university held international conferences and seminars with professionals invited from India, Israel, Czechoslovakia, Poland and Belarus.
